Reveal® Plus Insertable Loop Recorder

Reveal® Plus Insertable Loop Recorder

Has anybody had one of these or something similar implanted?  I am wondering how well they work and if I should expect complications in carrying out any of the normal daily tasks I do?  I am also curious about the scarring and how well things heal up once it is removed.

My doctor wanted me to have the ablation procedure done.  I think he decided to do the loop recorder first instead because I was a little uneasy about having the ablation procedure done unless he was pretty certain that SVT is what is causing my symptoms and that ablation will correct the problem.  A Holter monitor picked up something that suggests SVT, but he's not sure that this is the cause of the symptoms I am experiencing because I did not feel the SVT episode the monitor picked up.  He basically just thinks there is a good chance it is the cause from what I gathered.

i'm having the monitor implanted as well coming up.  i've heard that the scar is about an inch in size and its easy to live with...i think you just can't have a closed MRI or something.

I was starting to wonder if anybody else was having one of these implanted.  I really hope we both get some deffinite answers.

I like to pay basketball when I get a chance and I am a little concerned about taking an elbow to the chest.  I'm thinking that wouldn't feel too good with this thing in.  Thanks for your input and best of luck to you!

If you go to the medtronics web site ( they are who make the reveal plus ) there is some patient information there. Click on the faqs link and the patient information link. It may answer some of the concerns you have.

Good Luck

Hi,

I had one implanted back in Feb. There wasnt much to the procedure at all. It took about
1/2 hr to 45 min to do. I didnt have any restrictions . I know you cant have a MRI with one in.

It will be a little sore and tender for a few days but it isnt bad at all
Good luck

I had mine put in yesterday.  The procedure wasn't too bad.  It was quick like dancinheart03 said.  I spent 5 hours in the hospital including before and after surgery but the procedure itself probably didn't even take an hour.

I'm a little sore and swollen, but if I get some answers it will be worth it without question.

Have you recorded any events dancinheart03?  Just curious if you were able to get the answers you were after (or if you are still waiting for a telling episode).
