Do you still experience SVT? Are you on Beta Blockers now or did you have an ablation? After 13 years, how often do you have an episode?
Thanks for your input, it surely helps!
I experience that too and dislike it just as much. After 13 years of this though, it's much less anxiety-provoking.
The vagal maneuver, do it once the SVT actually begins or it's not likely to have much effect, speaking from experience. Sometimes a hard cough during the pause can sort of terminate the SVT sooner, after justa few beats. But that's me, I can't guarantee it will work for you, nor can I say it's more than coincidence that it has "worked" for me.
The pause you feel, I think it might be a PAC. At least, that's what my monitor in the ER showed last time they captured it. I was told PACs often precipitate a run of SVT.
Boy can I relate to your feelings/worry during the weird pause. I think my anxiety is escalating at that point. There is a brief relief when the SVT kicks in....just brief and then I think that my heart can't take the rapid rate and then the anxiety is in full effect!
I will remember to wait until the SVT kicks in before starting the vag. manuever. Hopefully I can begin to convert myself...or better yet, hopefully the beta blockers will prevent future episodes.
Thanks so much for your post!
I was always told to use the vagal manuever once it kicks into the fast rate.
For me, during that wierd pause, I'm doing busy worry about dying from my heart not starting again. If anything, I get up and hit my chest and yell for my heart to start beating. I'm almost happy to feel the SVT after that lol
