Whew! Your SVTParoxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (psvt) is worse than mine then. I don't know what effect it might have on the baby. Have you ever asked about that? I'm so happy I've never had to go in to be converted back to NSR.
You're right - the hormones just stir up the tachy. On the other hand, you probably don't want to risk taking meds during pregnancy either. There aren't many that are safe to use. I was told after my 2nd pregnancy they didn't want me to do that again. Hee-hee, I did it any way. It was the usual arrhythmia fest but I'm so happy to have my youngest son. He's a character. Perhaps my dancing heart gave him that bubbly personality. :-)
Anyway, it looks like you may have to tough it out. If you have a bad episode that won't break (do you try vagal maneuvers?), then off to the hospital you go. Congrats on the new baby coming. Fun times!
oh im not pregnant now hun and my svt is cured as i had an ablation done almost a year ago,i was on bisoprolol during pregnancy then put on a higher dose afterwards which totally doped me up so i was recommended for ablation,it was horrible at the time but glad i had it done.i dont think svt harms the baby in any way, maybe just wake him/her up a bitXX
I had PSVT during my 3 pregnancies: heart rate close to 200, lasting anywhere from a few minutes to almost an hour, daily. I didn't do anything. They kept an eye on me and I got through the pregnancies with no problem. Since then I've had 3 ablations (my pregnancies were years ago before ablations) and am doing better. It's an individual thing. What has the doctor said?
