Scared from very fast BMP and Pulpitations

Scared from very fast BMP and Pulpitations

I have a history with Hyperthyroid since the age of 14.
I have been off my meds for one year and my Bloodwork shows that my levels are fine.
My heart rate has been ranging from 85-100 bpm resting, and up to 130 bpm with activity or anxiety.
I have seen a cardiologist who did an EKG and ultra sound of the heart both he said came back fine.
When I ask about my heart rate I feel like I am blown off because my tests were fine.
He told me it's uncomfortable but not dangerous. How can a heart rate that fast not be damaging to my body?
Both my sisters have Tachycardia episodes with heart rates to 170 at times and have been on meds for this and had the surgery up the leg, i'm not sure on details.
I am so frustrated because the Endo sends me to the Cardiologist who sends me back to the Endo!
I have even been taking magnesium to try and help with the palpitations to yoga but no avail.
Does anyone have advice or opinions for me.
I'm only 24 and wish I were able to live my life without being scared to do things all the time!

I imagine you are very frustrated, feeling like your a ping pong ball between these 2 Dr's.

So you had an Echocardiogram and an EKG. The Echo revealed that your heart is functioning normally, no defects. The EKG on the otherhand revealed that for the 15-30 seconds it takes to do the test, that there were no electrical abnormalities, your heart was behaving.

The Dr is correct in saying that the rate is more of an annoyance but not dangerous. But that is not an acceptable way to send a patient out the door. What treatment options, if any, did he suggest for you? He should have, at least, offered a 30 day event monitor to further evaluate your tachycardia. If it were me, I would be calling back to see if you could get this monitor. If he says "no" than I would be asking for a 2nd opinion.

Not surprising what cardiologist said.  In my experience it is not uncommon for 130bpm heart rate to be considered OK as it is really only at the high end of suggested good cardio workout exercise rate for someone who is in good to excellent condition.  Don't know how in shape you are, but if pretty good, just don't push it as much.  The body will stop you before you can damage it by working out too hard as long as you watch that rate and maybe only get it to 120.  Even so, still should see a different Endo specialist to get a second opinion on the hypertyhroid.  I don't think the magnesium is doing anything and if indeed you are still hyperthyroid, a mild betablocker may be in order.  See a new Endo so you will fell safe and well diagnosed !!!

I just read your situation. I was disgnosed with Hyoerthyroid a year ago. It was hell in the beginning, I developed a Goiter in my throat , Nodules, And I hd a resting Heart Rate of 110 or more. THis is becuase the Thyroid controld the Metabolism in our bodies. If it is out of whack you will experice all kinds of things and a fast hearbeat is one of them.

I was put on 2 bouts of Steroids from my Endo and after the second bout everything went back to normal. All my bloodwork has been normal for the past 9 months, I Have on the other hand Hashimotos Disease. I was born with this Autoimmune Diseae that caused the Thyroiditis I got. I willl alwyas have Hashimotos Disease. She said that this disease attacks and eventaully destroys the thyroid. She also said I have a 50/50 chance of going HYpothyroid she just does not know when. As far at the heart goes Get the 24 hour Monitor and see how your heart reacts in that time period, I have had this done at least  5 times in my life. There are a number of reason m=why we get a fast heartbeat,ANXIETY is a major cause because I have this so I know what our minds can do to us, Hormones is another, then theres, defiencies calcicum, Magnesium. GO ask the doctor for bloodwork-up CMP-CBC-CHeck your calcium & Magnessium levels as well. Relax and take 15 minutes a day to go into a room and Breath ablove all Prayer..... VERY BIG,, ask the LORD TO HELP you through this. he will because that is what he is there for. He asks us to come seek him. God bless and tkae care If you are always worried about things that you CANNOT control then you are not living.
