Should I take Metoprolol tartrate 25mg per day?

Hello. I am  a 45 year old male and went through ascending aortic aneurysm surgery a year ago. I am currently on lopressor 50mg(25mg in the morning and 25mg at night). Lately, I noticed that my heart rate stays around the 50s due to effect of the lopressor but my blood pressure is ok. I've monitored my pulse rate and blood pressure on 25mg of lopressor/day and it seems ok. Should I stay on 25mg/day?

Ps I had my surgery in the US but I live in Africa.

What you're experiencing is typical when taking Metoprolol.  This is a very common drug and lot of people take it.  I take 100mg. per day.  Considering your surgery, I would not altern your dosage without first consulting with a professional.  Now, I occasionally experience a build up from taking it for such a long time.  Symptoms are a slow heart rate, and a heavy feeling in my chest when exerting myself.  Whwn this occurs, I will purposely skip a dose, and this seems to reset things.
