Sinus tachycardia

I have just been diagnosed with sinus tachycardia - a nurse called me yesterday with these test results, from a holter monitor.  She told me my doctor would like to put me on medication, and that I should see the doctor next week (I got this call on a Friday, and my doctor wasn't in).  Well, I'm leaving town at 5:00am on Monday for my job, and after leaving several messages for a doctor to call me back, I still have not gotten a response.  My main question is - is it safe for me to fly?  And is it safe to wait 8 days (until I get back into town) to see my doctor?  How serious is this?

Thanks for your help!  I have had various symptoms, which may or may not be related... Several months ago I started noticing an irregular heartbeat - mainly palpatations.  The doctor did an EKG, which came up normal, so she had me wear a holter monitor for a two week period (I'm a 28 year old female, if that helps).  A couple months went by (apparently it takes a long time to get the heart monitor results!), and just a couple days ago I went to the doctor because I've been experiencing shortness of breath, dizzy spells, and severe fatigue.  I was diagnosed with a sinus infection (which could explain the dizziness), and allergenic asthma (explaining the shortness of breath).  So she put me on antibiotics, nasal spray, and an inhaler for the asthma symptoms.  I had planned on starting the inhaler yesterday, but then I got the call from the nurse with the heart monitor results.  Now I'm still experiencing shortness of breath (and fatigue), which seems to be getting worse, but I'm scared to use the inhaler because it has a warning on it that says you shouldn't use it if you have any heart conditions or abnormal heartbeat.  I'm just really concerned - and the doctor still won't call me back!  I called the pharmacist to ask if I should use the inhaler, and they tell me I shouldn't - but I would like to because I'm very uncomfortable and becoming increasingly concerned.  And especially worried about getting on a plane Monday morning, with all this going on!

Hello...

Sinus tachycardia is not a life threatening problem. It is usually the result of an underlying problem. There are many things that could cause this to occur. It could be the result of a recent illness, dehydration, fever, anxiety, stress, increased hormones (mainly Thyroid) etc. The list is lengthy to what the cause could be.

Do you have any other symptoms? Have you been sick recently? Did you have any type of labwork done?
