Skipped beats and panic disorder

I have had panic disorder for 32 years. I am a 59 year old female, overweight, well controlled diabetic. I have had the Holter done several times as well as treadmill stress tests. All showed nothing serious. I can walk on my treadmill or ride my exercise bike for 30 minutes without a single skipped beat but if I try walking outside my heart just skips and skips. I am assuming this is my GAD and panic disorder. I do not have tachycardia, chest pain dizziness etc. My question is, what would be symptoms accompanying this situation that should prompt me to see a doctor for tests yet again? Thank you.

Hi Verne
We definitely care and i am like you in that I have real problems with meds, my body just does not find any balance its either too slow or I don't feel 'real' - unconnected.
What have you tried thats not drug related as I have tried lots and found some that worked  for me and might for you.
We've got to keep fighting.

I am an RN. I have had every heart test---two and three times; I have been on every anti anxiety med imaginable (I can tolerate none). I have been disabled with my Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder for over 15 years. I have suffered with severe bouts of agoraphobia as well. I have been in therapy for more than 15 years as well.

I want to thank you and "Amy" for caring enough to respond. Much appreciated.

I agree with Dave in that you may be agoraphobic - I was also for about a year or two.  Long story short, I recovered by going through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (most psycholgists/therapists are very familiar with this approach).  It was very successful for me- wishing you success as well!

Whatever we think it might be you should certainly check it out with your doctor.
The way you present your problem leads to thinking of Agoraphobia as if you can walk on your treadmill and ride your exercise bike with out missed beats then the only difference is being outside.
Once your doctor has cleared you of any physical problems then how about looking at therapy for your panic disorder - I have had this myself following a terrible car accident - and eventually it made things better.
there are so many ways of treating this and i hope you find one that helps you.
Best wishes
