Starting Heparin for afib...and pregnant

by fran2, Jan 05, 2008 01:59AM
Anyone have experience taking heparin while pregnant?  My cardiologist says aspirin should be enough, but my GP and the Perinatologist I'm seeing say it's not enough, I should be taking heparin during the last trimester of my pregnancy

ooops....posted this before I was finished.

So, of course I'm concerned about this.  Does anyone else have experience with heparin (low molecular weight) during pregnancy?

I believe it's common to take heparin during pregnancy. It is taken by women with clotting disorders such as antiphospholipid syndrome to prevent miscarriage so it must be considered safe.
