Sudden Tachychardia when standing

Hello,

I'm a 24 yr old male. I woke up yesterday with a racing pulse that I noticed as soon as I got out of bed,

My normal resting heart rate is around 65. Since yesterday morning my resting pulse has been between 80-90 and as soon as I stand up it goes up to about 130 and has reached as high as 150. I haven't felt any pain or like I'm going to faint.

I went to the dr for acid reflux about a month ago and blood work came back normal including thyroid check. Dr also did a precautionary ekg which also showed to be normal.

I don't know what to do. I'm scheduling a cardiologist apt asap but do I need to go to the ER?

Glad you finally find your way :)
I knew from the title its POTS.
Anyway there are lots of info about it. Abd you shiukd know types of POTS you have anf usyally electrolyte solution helps, drink lots of fluids and maybe medicine to help low blood volume and vasoconstrictions. Do you have low BP?

Hi all. Thank you foR responding.

Update: I was able to get in to see my PCP on Wednesday. She measured my pulse as high as 150 standing up. She had me lay down and administered an EKG which thankfully came back normal. Her sentiment was that this was probably POTS (my mom has tachychardia) She did test my thyroids as well to be safe.
Anyway, she prescribed me 25mg of Atenolol daily and I immediately felt so much better after taking. Heart rate has been completely normal now since taking on Wednesday afternoon. I have a cardiologist apt scheduled again on Feb 3 so hopefully I can get some more clarification then. Thank you all again.

Do you feel faint and have nausea? Do you have a headache upon awakening?

Where do u live?
i cant believe so many people and medical practioner still havent heard of dysautonomia or pots.
Elevated hr >30bpm from sitting/lying to standing is pots. Caused by dysautonomia, low blood volume, etc. Google it.

When you sit back down does it go down fairly quickly?  How much water do you drink?  I can get this type of thing when I am dehydrated.  Acid reflux will also cause my heart to be a bit jumpy.  I would say make the appointment with the cardiologist to get checked out.  If you can't get a quick appointment with the cardiologist see if you can get into your regular doctor just to have them check the heart a bit.  Not sure this is an emergency but you should be looked at since your resting is higher than it should be.  If you at all feel in danger then don't hesitate to go to the ER.  But again drink lots of water and see if your heart calms down for you.

if your hr is 130 at rest for hours then you need at least urgent care, ask the cardio to give you any open ... a cancellation by another patient.   at your young age a hr as high as 150 should not cause any damage in the short run, imo.
