Sudden heart palpitaions that last for about a min.

Hello Dr.!

Just to give a background real quick!   Im 26 yr old female.  Almost 4 yrs. ago I had infective endocarditis, in turn, I have a vegetation on my tricuspid heart valve/  they decided not to operate because I was asymptomatic after the infection was gone.  I've been fine since, with every now and then a heart flutter ( which I would get once in a while a year before the infection)....which was scary for a min., but so few far and in between that it didnt mess with me daily life style!  Now as of 2 months ago, out of no where I had a session where it lasted for about a min.  I was so scared and shakey and almosty felt like I was going to pass out.  since then i have had two more episodes, the last one lastiing for over a min.
In turn these have also gave me panic attacks and major anxiety.  I think about it when I wake up and when I go to bed, its extremely deteriorating my quality of life, in fear that Im going to have another episode.  (Im more concerned that its an underlying hearrt condition rather then anxiety because Im sure I had the palps first!!!!!!)
NOw I havent been to the doctor Im waiting for insurance to go through.....but should I be concerned that this can be a serious complication of my heart valve ......if so, why is it just now starting up!!!! I guess sometimes Im afraid that the vegetation may break off...should this be a concern...PLEASE HELP!!!
Thank you very much!

Hi,

I am sorry to hear of your problems and current lack of Health Insurance.

I am a forum member on the Heart Rhythm forum, I wish I could be more informative to you. Likely other forum members will have things to say.

I have had various forms of benign arrhythmias since I was 15 years old, and I am now 50. Sometimes it's not very much fun when they are acting up.

Even without health insurance, perhaps you can find a Family Doctor in your area with reasonable rates, perhaps even allowing several payments. An In-Office EKG should be reasonable in cost, and may give you the reassurance you need.

Be well.
