Sudden onset after eating

I had been enjoying a couple of months with very few PVC's, when suddenly over the past couple of days they have really started up again, and much worse than ever. They are much worse after I eat. This morning I had no PVC's and I skipped breakfast, then ate a muffin about 11:00 or so. Since then I have been plagued with PVC's about every 2 or 3 minutes. I have taken my pulse a lot and sometimes I cannot detect the skips in my pulse at all, so I wonder if these are actually PVC's. But other times I can clearly feel the big pause as I take my pulse. Anyone have any reassurance or advice for me? It is making me scared to eat anything. If I lay down and don't move much they calm down, so I am thinking that pressure in my stomach is causing these.

I get these skipped beats only after eating. My doc diagnosed me with acid reflux. I wore a holter monitor and the saw PVC's on the tape. These are not harmful according to the doc. The acid reflux seems to stimulate my vagal nerve after I eat. If I bend over to put my shoes on, this pushes my stomach up and causes PVC's. If I walk after I eat, they start up from the 'josling'. If I stop walking, they immediately stop....weird. I am controlling them by sitting still for an hour after eating. That seems to work.

Hi,

I have very similar events to you. I have been having benign ectopics for 16 years and currently take sotalol morning and evening to control the misbeats. I have found from time to time that they come on in the middle of a meal and afterwards, especially hot food, chinese food, larger meals. They then stay for several hours and scare me to death. I also get them when I lie down to sleep, sit down to rest and perversely sometimes when I walk around, bend forwards or try to do any activity. These usually settle when I sit. I am waiting for further investigations, but up to now all the medics don't seem to know what causes these. It's only after reading lots of heart forums that I realise so many people have just the same symptoms as us. Mine last maybe a week then settle, then I am reasonably peaceful for a couple of weeks then they kick off again. They have never been captured on ECG and they are thinking of using a REVEAL device to try and capture them. Please don't worry, nothing has happened to me yet although I am terrified, apparently the vagus nerve runs behind the stomach and a full stomach and hot food will trigger the heart to misbeat. Kind regards. Julie.
