im going to try the magnesium i dont think it will make a difference...like you i try to keep positive in replay in my head that they havnt found anything wrong with my heart besides this and them telling me its not serious..but then i have those bad days where i let it get to me and of course that makes it worse...im going for the 2nd opinion on nov 8th
Just my two cents here...I have tried magnesium and omega 3 and neither seemed to make a difference for me but maybe I wasn't taking enough or something. Omega 3 though has been implicated in having many health benefits overall so that is something to consider.
I know that there are a LOT of RELIABLE posters on the site that say magnesium has helped them a LOT so it certainly may be worth a try.
I have found that rest proper excercise and regaining a feeling that you will not let the PVCs take over you emotionally help tremendously. Trust me, I still have days where I'm pulling my hair out...but I find that a positive mental outlook can make a TREMENDOUS difference...I know its corny and a total cliche' but for me its true.
Also, get that second opinion on the ablation because PVCs DO sometimes have a tendency to be there 24- 7 for a period of time and then just flat out DISAPPEAR on their own...I know this has been the case for me at times in my life.
Best of luck and feel better.

Can you please direct me to a paper that discusses the benefits of magnesium on PVC incidence? I'm very interested. My understanding, which may be wrong, is that the magnesium is only beneficial if the cause of the PVCs is an electrolyte imbalance.
I did find this discussed briefly on medhelp. CCF CARDIO MD-MTR answered as follows:
"Magnesium is used to treat serious rhythm disturbances in hospitalized patients, but it's doubtful that oral magnesium supplements will help. In my opinion, magnesium supplements are not harmful, but don't have an effect on the incidence of PVC's."

You're right that it's very unlikely that she has a pathologically low magnesium deficiency, but higher blood levels can still help reduce the frequency of PVCs. Searching the published literature will show you many papers finding that magnesium helps ease a myriad of cardiac symptoms.
well i do notice my heart pounding more after i eat but its before also just not as bad..i have gastritis im already on nexium
It's very unlikely IMO that you have a magnesium defiiency. PVCs have many causes, only a few of which can be solved with supplements.
One possibility worth consiering is indegestion (GERD) on occasion. Do the PVCs occur more frequently after eating? PVCs are often associated with digestive problems. One solution in those cases is to take an OTC proton pump inhibitor like prilosec. A natural remedy that's been recommended on some web-pages is to take a teaspoon of honey on occasion to settle the stomach.
Magnesium helps me very much. Don't take magnesium oxide as it's very poorly absorbed. Try chelated magnesium, mag citrate, or other formulations.
Hey there, I just wanted to throw my two cents in...When I took Omega 3 it actually made my palpatations worse. Everyone is different, just wanted to throw it out there. Good luck!
Read the posts under Celeste77 from 10/21. There is a TON of information regarting potassium and magnesium supplements and their effect on the heart. It's an EXTREMELY helpful set of posts.
