Tachycardia and Anxiety/Panic

My question is I suppose simple.. But I was wondering- I have been getting and high heart rates of 140-170 which over a period of hours 2-3 and then without medication would come back down.  I am not taking 12.5 mg of metorpolol along with my 2 mg xanax (Also I dont smoke am not overweight and dont drink and am 22)

I am more or less asking if anxiety and panic can cause the above symptom.

I had an EKG about 3 weeks before I had this happen. And it came back as a bit of a high rate but otherwise perfect. and i have been diagnosed with panic disorder and chronic anxiety, Thank you again

hello, i had similar symptoms.  it turned out to be my thyroid.  i am 29 years old.  might want to tell your doctor to check it out.  I was having anxiety/panic attacks and i turned out i was hyperthyroid.  just a suggestion..good luck...

Yes, it could be anxiety, if you feel stressed, anxious or panicky.  But it could also be other things like dehydration, hyperthyroidism, low potassium or low magnesium.
