mine's caused from sleep apnea - from my other discussion groups, I think it's caused from my ANS dysfunction
Wow, yea 76% is too low.
That's what I've alway heard from respiratory therapists, 89% and below they start to watch and treat.
WHat caused yours to drop? Was it apnea?
I agree - I think there's a connection between sleep & arrythmia's. Look at all the research done on sleep and the effects on other parts of our bodies.
The speaker did say the lowest SO2 during sleep should remain above 90%; so its worth watching. My lowest SpO2 was 76% and I woke up 71 times during the study, no wonder I'm fatigued :P
She said as we age, we do wake up more often during the night and between the ages of 40-50 we waken 20-22 times per night, and the prevelance of health problems worsen as we age - direct connection?
Wonder what came first, sleep disturbances or arrythmia's hmmm...maybe more research needs to be done for arrythmia's & sleep.
I'm sure there's something to sleep patterns. WHen I experienced my worst PVCs the onset coincided with a very broken sleep pattern. I was schedule for a sleep study but just as my sleep got better the PVCs were too.
For giggles I bought a pulse ox and I'd throw it on when I woke up in the middle of the night with the raging PVCs, and was always in proper range for SO2.
I did the seminar last night with Dr. Park - that was some great information, but I missed part of it, Lost came on so I don't know if I got my questions answered :P but they did go over some information I had questions about.
The guest speaker said Tachycardia is a HR above 90 asleep vs 100 awake, bradycardia is a HR below 40 vs 60 awake; because our HR drops during sleep. My tachy at 115 during the test is still not as high as my holter recorded [147] so it probably depends on the night.
It's no wonder I've felt miserable with my sleep patterns - fragmented sleep especially during REM is bad. This could account for part of my heart problems, which the reason my cardiologist sent me for a sleep study last year.
What's bothersome is my latency & sat levels which occured sometimes with the Tachycardia and also during my N3 sleep cycle which is restorative sleep.
I wonder what the connection between sleep patterns and arrythmia's and how much a good nights sleep affects our heart since research has shown it affects virtually everything else in our body.
I sent in tons of questions to tonight during my seminar - I thought it would be tied to dreaming too, I'm going to look it up but any clue what state of REM is dream state? that's if I can figure it out from what I read :P
OI or ANS problems most likely is the cause
Well then I guess it's not tied to dreaming.
The only other ideas I have are along the lines of orthostatic tach, or perhaps something ANS related.
the timing of the tachy is about 15 prior to rem; but then 2 other times during the night are no where near rem, which I found interesting. I never went into rem 3 or 4 and not sure I ever do, I've had sleep problems since I was young, maybe 10 or 12 and never seem to sleep deeply, so I'll ask when Tues during the seminar
I have had this, although I am not sure what caused mine other than nightmares and anxiety....most the time I sleep right through it. I am not sure what causes this so let me know if you find out!
Does the timing of the tach match up with a REM cycle?
