Teen heart rates are definately effected by what they eat, how much they eat, and caffeine intake. My husband works at Starbucks and you would not believe the drinks those high school kids put down! It's not just the strong coffee drinks either.., stimulating "energy bars" "health bars" "energy/health drinks".., sometimes kids don't even know they are eating or drinking something that has stimulates in it. (Caffeine, eufedra, ect) Not to mention.., does he take any medications?
Also, kids heart beat much faster than adults.., and just like us adults.., stress really affects them..,
Common high-school stressors.., grades, friends, sports ect.,, even if they are good, (like they are happy a girl likes them).., can raise a heart beat quite a lot.
110 is a bit high for sitting for a while though..,
You should take it when he's asleep, and right before his alarm goes off. If you startle him though.., it will go up instantly of course.., so maybe when he's sleepy relaxed on a weekend and he wakes up on his own. I know my alarm raises my heart rate!
If it's always above 80 you should take him to a doctor for sure.., but at any rate make sure to make a call and talk to his Dr. or his Dr.'s nurse and see if he should be examined.
It is important to know whether or not the fast pulse rate starts and stops on a dime. Teens tend to drink a lot of sodas and many of them are high in caffine which will cause the heart to beat faster. Even mountain Dew has a very high caffine content. Chocolate as well. Check out the things he is eating and drinking for a start.
I have the same symptoms, and nothing seems to be wrong. my pulse races for like 150 bpm for 2 hours then it calms down. HELP!
