Thallium stress test results

Thallium stress test results

I am a 61 year old male and have had PAT since age 21.  I had never had a stress test until recently.  Done to evaluate increase in irregular beats.  The report said I reached 98% of predicted maximal heart rate as the rate changed from 68 to 157 BPM.  BP changed from 152/80 to 189/66.  I was stressed to 8 METS.  I stopped due to fatigue but had no excess shortness of breath and no chest pain.  There were no EKG changes over baseline.  The reading said the stress tomograph images demonstrate no significant perfusion defects.  Resting tomograms show no significant change.  No wall motion abnormalities.  Ejection Fraction is calculated to be 78%.  My question is what METS means and did I seem to do well overall?

The blood pressure numbers don't look all that great, but the rest looks very good for someone your age.  Ejection fraction number was excellent.

Re: METS - This is a quote from an article from CBS from a cardiologist:

If you have MET levels five or below, your chances of dying are twice as great as people who have MET levels of eight or above.

A MET appears to be a unit of measure of your capacity for exercise as it relates to oxygen consumption.  More METS is better.

Looks like overall those are some good test results.  You must've studied.

Looks good!  I had my test in June of last year.  Your blood pressure did what it was supposed to do according to my doctor.  As you get further into the test the top number goes up and the bottom number goes down.
