Thinline's hair dilemma

by Thinline, Jan 02, 2008 12:50AM
Hello everyone, hope you all had good New Year celebrations.  I wish all of you a very healthy and happy year.  Do any of you have any advice on hair loss?  I don’t know if it is from being so sick of if its from all the drugs or maybe just one of the drugs I’m on, but my hair is falling out.  It’s bad and I’m considering shaving my head before it gets all patchy, but it is really upsetting for my son that I’m losing my hair, so I don’t want to do anything too drastic before I try fix it first – although I suspect its not a fixable problem until I’m all better and off all meds.  Not the end of the world for me to be bald, I’m not one of those vain girly girls but I’d like to try something.  Any suggestions?

Look up the side effects of all the meds you are taiking.  If "hair loss" is listed tell your doctor.  My hairstylist had that problem, her doctor switched her meds and now she has a nice full head of hair.

Thanks for the advice.  I checked and no less than three of the meds I'm on have hair loss as a side effect.  I also found out that having a severe illness (I just came out of hospital after 7 weeks) can make you lose your hair.  Today I went to the pharmacy and got some special shampoo and vitamins which promote hair growth.  Also thinking of having my rapidly dwindling blonde (true) cut really short at the hairdressers.  Will decide tomorrow.

I am sure that its due to your illness and the stress it caused you,I have a friend who  had the same thing happen to her, once she was on the mend her hair grew back again, she had it cut really short and it grew back beautifully!! I can understand how you feel, I would hate it, but I am sure it will grow back. X0X
