Thrombus or vegetation

I went to Mayo to have a pulmonary ablation and after all the tests I was told that the transesophageal echo cardiogram showed two linear, mobile densities attached to RA lead in right atrium, length 2.5 cm.  Diagnosis, thrombus or vegetation.  Clinical correlation required.  Blood tests were ran but the weekend was coming up an I was sent home with the instruction that if I got short of breath go to closest ER.  Called my cardiologist I see at home and was told that he was out for a week and they would email him Monday or Tuesday of next week.  All of his partners our full.  I really feel frustrated and scared like I slipped through the cracks.  Any ideas?

This is my feeling on this situation. None of it seems fair to me....and there is obviously an issue w. your doctor and his on call docs but i can't believe for a moment and hope its not true that anyone in his office is not available to you.  To say that his business partners are all booked up...my advice to you jlsen is to find yourself a doc that IS AVAILABLE to you since you are going thru this.  I would start looking for a doc that would be there for me if i am facing something that scares me and to be told that no one in their offices are available? That is totally unexcusable because it means the other docs aren't covering your docs pt. load....what a joke.  And you will slip thru the cracks unless you do something here because there is no way anyone knows anything is wrong unless you speak to them.  What i would do is call my docs office tomorrow and tell them again what your situation is and that you would like a referral from them to another office or doctor since they do not have the time to see you or squeeze you in...oh this makes me so mad...you can bet one of two things will happen here...one is that they will magically make room for you in their busy schedule to talk to a doc especially when you let them know that you will be telling your doc that you are changing doctors because everyone is too busy to see you or two they will give you the referral and in that case i would say the answer is right in your face...they don't care....and then do not take their referral do a little research or call the Mayo back and ask the doc that came up w. the diagnosis to refer you to someone else....the sqeaky wheel gets the oil jlsen but i wouldn't put up w. this for a New York minute......
