Toprol question

Hi,

I started Toprol 25 mg last night for the first time for Atrial Flutter, its been
22 hours and I feel the flutters again, does Toprol take time to build up in
your system?

I was on Toprol right after my ablation and my heart surgeon told me to give it up to a week for my system to adjust to it.  .25 is a very low dose and your heart has to acclimate to the new you....give it time to do its job its a pretty good heart med. altho i was eventually taken off of it because for some reason it pretty much did its job w. no residuals.  But whatever you do......don't ever stop just taking your pills w/out your doc. telling you to because most of them the doc will slowly have your reduce the strength until you are weaned off of them....its dangerous to self medicate or reduce your meds without the docs supervision...we're talking about the heart here....good luck
