UGH!!!!

Although your responses helped me greatly for several days, I am once again scared. I know you all say what I am going through is normal, I'd like to know if what I am going through today, is also normal. Today I have, besides the normal run of palpitations, several times just had one big thump that made me short of breath and lightheaded for a few seconds. I also felt, I don't want to call it pain, but pressure, sort of like when you get a gas pain, in my chest at the times of those huge thumps. Please tell me all that is also normal.

What you're describing sounds like PVCs and these are common afterwards. PACs occur in atrium, the same area they did the ablation and usually feel like a flutter or just a skipped beat. PVCs have a little more force as they are coming from the ventricle, which is the chamber that pumps blood out. So when it skips, and resets itself that's the thump and pressure you're feeling. You can have some lightheadedness with it because it skipped a beat and for just a few seconds didn't pump any blood out. PVCs are usually benign and worry about them, I found, can make them worse. These are normal after an ablation, which is what you had right? But if you feel like you need to, call your cardiologists and see if you can wear another holter monitor. That way they say for sure what you're feeling are PVCs and that they're nothing to worry about. IF it makes you feel better I had an ablation for SVT back in October and was palp free til this month, 4 months after surgery and they come and go. My cardiologist said I would probably be more sensitive to feeling skipped beats and that they were common after the procedure. Hope this helps, goodluck!

I have felt a pain or discomfort when a hard thump happens. It's so hard to not be scared... I understand. If it helps... this has been happening to me for 8 years & I'm still here :)
