V tach questions

Here's my background, I had my aortic valve replaced 20 yrs ago w/a St Jude valve. I have EF levels within normal range. Currently on 125 mg of metaprolol. I've been feeling palpitations/minor chest pain for some time and a few episodes of being lightheaded but did not faint. I had a Stress Test w/echo done to look into this. During the stress test I had multiple pvc's and 10 mins in I had a NSVT. They gave me a holter monitor to wear for 24 hrs.

Here's the question:

I'm due to see my cardiologist regarding the results. I'm not asking for specifics regarding my case as I know the echo/ekg/holter all play a part. I'm just wondering what the steps of treatment might include for someone w/my symptoms. I understand the pvc's may be nothing at all as well.

What might be suggested next:increase beta blockers? Antiarrythymic drugs? EP study?

thanks for your time

Tough to speculate.  The monitor should provide some help if you have any episodes while wearing it.

Just my guess, but 125 mg of Metoprolol is a high dose level.  The doctor could go higher if you can take it.  I had trouble taking 200 mg a day and now take only 50 mg of BB plus a Calcium Channel Blocker.

I'd guess an EP study would be proposed only if the monitor shows some troubling arrhythmia. To my knowledge, the EP study is the precursor to a possible Ablation, which I believe is never done unless there is considerable symptom problems.
