Visken For PACS/PVCS

Hey

Anyone here take/tried Visken beta blocker for there extra beats or any arrythmia? I have very frequent symptomatic PACS and occasional pvcs but also have a low resting and daily heart rate. My ep said this is an older beta blocker but doesnt reduce hr as much as the others. Im starting on a low dose of 5 mg and going to see how I do from there. Im a medicine phobe but willing to give this a shot.

Thanks!

It will lower blood pressure if the blood pressure is high from lots of circulating adrenaline.

You can read more about it here:

Not much during rest. But it will lower blood pressure and heart rate during stress/exercise/anxiety/panic somewhat.

As I said, Visken stimulates the beta receptors a little during rest. So your resting blood pressure (and heart rate) will not be so much affected.

I wouldn't worry about that.

You should have a 10 point systolic drop when standing. It's a normal response to the fact that blood runs down your body (from gravity) when standing. The body compensates by increasing diastolic pressure a little, and heart rate a little. Mean arterial pressure will be unchanged.

Visken is pretty unique for being a beta blocker. It's actually kind of neat, as it is a beta receptor partial agonist, which means it can stimulate the beta receptors to a certain degree, but when adrenaline stimulation is high, the net effect will be a blocking effect. It's perfect in the setting of a low resting heart rate, as it will produce some stimulation and prevent the heart rate from dropping too low.

It also has some psychiatric effects, as it is a (weak) serotonin receptor agonist too. If Visken was available in Norway I would definitely have asked for it.

So yesterday was my day on using Visken. I jave to say it definately lowers hr and blood pressure a good bit. My standing hr was in the 50-53 range. Normal for me is around 70. Blood pressure sat in the low 100's/60s.

What was crazy was the exercise. No matter how hard i tried and pushed i couldnt get my hr over 105 bpm. Exercise that i would normally be in the 170s. That felt weird. My before bed hr was low 40s. Usually around 50. Not sure my sleeping hr.

As far as the pacs and pvcs, i still had them but felt less and if i did the were little blips

Ill post pics

Thanks..

You know anything on how dramatic it drops the bp? From my brief search its used for hypertensive therapy but other readings i have found it has minimal effects on hr or blood pressure so not sure its use in the setting of hypertension. I dont have super low bp but i am tall in stature and usually have about a 10 point drop in systolic when standing
