Visual overstimulation and extra PVC?

Visual overstimulation and extra PVC?

hello everybody! Question for ya'll. I've noticed that whenever I go to the grocery store or the mall I tend to get ALOT of PVC's and feel a lot more dizzy than usual. I've been trying to figure out if this has been experienced by anyone else? I notice that both the mall and grocery store have a lot of visual stimuli and also the big open spaces and lots of people swirling around. I do have a touch of anxiety at times, but have noticed that even when I am doing really well all it takes is a grocery trip to send my heart wacky. Any input is very much appreciated!

xoxo

For me it's a matter of being on my feet too long, especially standing in one place (like waiting in line). I get the same effect when I'm at work in the back room doing fecals. Just standing quietly in one spot staring at poop is not very stimulating but my heart still starts to hiccup.

It's funny you mention this, as just last night I was at Walmart and got that 'weird' feeling I get often at stores...not really my heart but more of a can't focus or concentrate and just feel really out of it and spacy. I was standing there looking around and I think it's a combination of the flourescent lights (I hate those!)  and everything going on around me....lots to look at and people all over the place, etc.  It's not fun...I know.  And yes, I think some of it is a touch of anxiety too...for me it's more the 'fear of the fear' kind of anxiety. When I go into a store, I start worrying that I WILL get anxiety, that I then do develop anxiety symptoms. Frustrating!

Hey there! So good to see ya! Yeah I avoid Walmart for the same reason. But you TOTALLY summed it up, can't focus or concentrate and feel kinda spacey. That's exactly how I feel. I didn't know if it was heart related or what. I do notice that my PVC's are real pronounced when I'm in these kinds of environments though. Thanks so much for responding.

WOW!! I rarely have PVCs or tachy anymore since being on the beta blocker atenolol when i do get them now, it's usually at supermarkets, banks, or airports.I think its because I basically don't like crowds, gets my adrenaline going and triggers the ectopics.

Forgot to add probably a mild form of agoraphobia" usually means fear of the market place".

I too get the same thing when I am at stores or the mall. I thought I was crazy. Nice to read other people experience this as well. The other day I was at Lord and Taylor waiting to buy something and I got really dizzy, then my heart skipped a beat. I think the dizziness causes some anxiety and then the anxiety caused my heart to palpitate. At any rate, I do think the lights and noise have a lot to do with that "feeling". I used to work on a trading floor in NYC and I would get that sensation all of the time. It drove me nuts. I think it was the bright, open space, tons of activity and those awful lights.

it's definately reassuring to know that others get this same feeling. Maybe knowing I'm not alone I can worry less about it. Thanks for the input ladies!

ITS ANXIETY, YOU FEEL SPACY AND CANT CONCENTRATE AND START TO FEEL REALLY SCARED. YOU MIGHT START TO TINGLE AND YOU HEART GOES CRAZY! YOUR JUST PROBABLY HAVING A PANIC ATTACK, IM 23 AND HAVE HAD THIS FOR 5 YEARS NOW AND IT SUCKS AND I DONT LET IT CONTROL ME ANYMORE, I ALWAYS KEEP MYSELF BUSY AND THE LESS YOU THINK ABOUT IT THE BETTER OFF YOU ARE! I KNOW ITS HARD ESPECIALLY IN A STORE SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE BUT JUST DONT THINK ABOUT IT, DO DISHES OR WATCH A TV SHOW REALLY GET YOUR MIND ONTO SOMETHING ELSE. IT SUCKS BUT YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO CONTROL IT IT TOOK ME 2 YEARS TO FIGURE IT OUT AND SOMETIMES IT IS REALLY BAD AND SOME DAYS IT ISNT THERE AT ALL! ALSO IF YOUR PANIC ATTACKS ARE REALLY BAD TO WHERE YOU HYPERVENELATE ( THOSE ARE THE WORST) YOUR DR SHOULD PRESCRIB YOU XANAX THEY TAKE ABOUT 10 MIN TO WORK AND THEY ARE REALLY GOOD FOR THE BAD PANIC ATTACKS. ALSO REFRAIN FROM USING THE COMPUTER ALOT THAT HELPS TOO!

I agree with the remarks above...I am in good health but I have had episodes of feeling spacey in malls since I was very young...I think anxiety could play a role but I think the poor air quality doesn't help...

I feel that PVCs and that dizzy, spacey feeling are hallmarks of dysautonia at least for me...

Wow, those symptoms are classic signs of anxiety. I say this because I have anxiety attacks big time, and when I am in public, that is when they will act up the most. It is due to the "fight or flight" hormones and when they release, your body thinks it is in trouble and acts accordingly. Oh, it is no fun. And that "can not focus or concentrate" is common too, I get that when I am really nervous and I try not to let it get to me, but, as you know, you can not lie to your sub-conscious, and the feelings still come.

Sometimes right before I get a nasty flutter, I will get this "dropping/gone" feeling in my tummy, like going down a hill too fast, and sure enough, within seconds, a flutter appears, I hate that. I had that a few weeks back, I was nervous about standing in line at a college I was interested in, and by the time I got to the admission clerk to talk, I was a mess. I think the fear of something happening and creating a scene is in the back our minds, and this fears causes us to be uptight and bingo, in comes the anxiety and flutters.

I have these two books by Dr. Claire Weekes, one is called "Hope and Help for Your Nerves" and the other "Peace From Nervous Suffering" They both have truly been a gift from God. I will read those again and again when I am in one of those "states" and they really help. They were written a long time ago, but, you can still get them, they are that good.

Praise God for these forums, it sure helps to share experiences and to know you are not along in this.

Blessings
