WPWS?!

I have really bad panic attacks that effect my heart rate in the er. I have noticed Palps and WPWS look alike?

here is my info:
went into the er with chest pain, turns out it wasnt comong from my heart (typical symptom of anxiety)

ok, so they did a ekg turnded out fine!

did an ecg here is what it says::

Vent rate: 68bpm
PR interval: 94ms
QRS duraton: 76ms
QT/QTc: 370/393ms
P-R-T axes: 38 49 42

says Sinus Rythem with shorty PR otherwise normal ecg

Now on the ecg there is one circled mark which looks more like a heart palp. Mind you I get paniced when I go into these places. I have never had any heart problems before the dr wasnt sure if it was panic attack induced palp so he wrote WPW?? and told me to go to a cardio dr to make sure everything was fine.

how many times have Palps caused by panic attacks be diagnosed as something worse? WPW is a conenital inhearit it from your family. I dont have any abnormalities in my family other than panic attacks.

Anyone out there who knows the diffrence between the two? cause lately I lost a pregnancy and have been highly depressed and paniced.

I cant go to the cardio dr till the  monday after this one.

Also, No...I never had a calm ecg because lately I have been paniced going into the ER

both times showed palps but I was freaking out because I hate needles and iv's they cause me to have high panic attacks to the point I feel like I am going to passout.

I wish I did have some normal ones and I cant keep going back to the damn er and racking up money I dont have. btw, I used my boyfriends phone to take that pic and tried to sharpen it so you could see the lines batter. I have a better camera but i have NO clue where it is.

most of my ecg  look like this http://www.ecglibrary.com/norm.html

none of them look like any of these: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.coldbacon.com/mdtruth/pics/VentricularPrematureBeat(VPB).jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.coldbacon.com/mdtruth/more/ekg.html&usg=__HuI7pUgznUC10V0z41vmj3ovVWI=&h=101&w=538&sz=18&hl=en&start=4&um=1&tbnid=xehSTvuSWvk3zM:&tbnh=25&tbnw=132&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwpws%2Becg%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox%26rlz%3D1I7SKPB%26um%3D1

it looks kinda like this but not 100% the up and down is what it looks like but the lines after are normal

Have you ever had anything traumatic happen to you before? A post-traumatic stress disorder is most like not what you are having since in that disorder the person tends to relive that traumatic event over and over. What you described here are pretty much signs of panic attacks. A short PR interval could just be because of your panic attacks. It's natural to feel dizzy, and nauseous when you are pregnant. And of course since you have miscarried, you will feel extra anxious. I really recommend you find something that will make you feel happy and relaxed. You have too much worry. Find something to do, like listen to your favorite music, do something interesting or even new, hang out with people that make you feel happy, or go talk to someone, maybe a talk therapy would be a good option.
Tightness in chest could be a result of a panic attack and people often confuse it with heart attack. If you had a heart attack, it would show on ECG right away, even angina would show up on ECG, which it didn't so you really shouldn't worry about stuff like that often.
Trust me, things like that could get very crazy, I am a medical student and everytime I learned something new I would think I have it, especially regarding heart, because I already have a small congenital defect. It used to worry me like crazy until I realized where the fear is coming from.
The doctor circled WPW because he is being extra cautious. BUT since you said you had panic attacks BOTH times you had an ECG done, then MOST likely explanation of a short PR interval is the panic attack. In themselves short PR intervals are not dangerous.
I can't stress it enought that you should really try to calm yourself down. As soon as you start having less panic attacks you will see that the quality of your life will get better! Next time you go in to get your ECG done, try to be as calm as possible. Do/read/listen to something that will calm you down, a joke, good music, a nice walk.
I hope this helps :)

I posted this and a medical student replied.
I just don't see how ALL of a sudden I get a heart problem
I had a small palp that the dr said go get checked out, they werent concerned about it and said everything else was fine besides the small abnormality. I have noticed when I think about things like this I get symptoms of panic attacks, mostly dizzy because i am afraid to feel dizzy. All day yesterday I felt fine until my mother started talking about

When I get the money I will go in
I felt fine all day yesterday until my mom started talking about the miscarriage.

I also noticed I have dreams over and over again about me getting pregnant again or having a miscarriage.

Idk, I cant explain this!!!

I am going to see if I can get an ecg done again soon just to be sure.

it's really tricky anyway, but more so since there is the possibility for WPW along with the PVCs. That photo you posted isn't quite clear enough to see if there is some small slurring that makes up the delta wave. Have you looked online at examples of delta waves? That's where the trace starts to rise before it should, not being fully delayed by the AV node, because the accessory pathway is allowing the conduction.

My take is that the doc circled one beat as an example, but that doesn't mean it's not occurring in most or all other beats. Like the one beneath the circled one, in V5. V4 and V5 maybe give the best view, anterior wall.

Then you'd look at V1 being negative, which could mean the Wolff-PW is of type B.

But then you don't have any T-wave abnormalities, which are not a requirement anyway.

On top of all of that, a person can apparently show delta waves when adrenalin is high, but not when relaxed. Do you have a strip from an ECG taken when calm? Maybe avoiding or conquering the anxiety is the key anyway.

This is all just guesswork on my part, of course. Maybe somebody else her knows more.

NTB: I think I will do that!! maybe not scan but I can take one with a picture phone, a few photos to show on here. that would be a better help since I know alot of people have wpws on here.

Jerry_NJ: That is what I thought too, if they thought it was something you'd think they'd keep me and do more tests. in my obinion I think they were just refuring to help others make more money, and yes, that is me and my dog Riley. =}

it would be interesting if you scanned and posted that EKG. From what I've seen, PVCs show the distinct deflection below the base line, but Wolf PW would show only the delta wave and the short PR.

There are examples on wikipedia if you'd like to look there.

But it's probably all just anxiety, so ironically: don't worry about it :)

Not an expert on specific question about WPW, but I will respond to bump your post to the top of the list again,

From what I read I can say I think you should be just fine over the next week plus while you wait for your cardiologist appointment.  Keep in mind, if ER though you needed immediate attention they would have checked you into the hospital and gotten the nearest cardiologist to take a look.

I assume the your avatar is a picture of you and you dog.  I am also a dog lover and find them very calming.  I think you do too, and maybe that's a distraction you can use to easy panic feelings.
