Weird beat i've never seen before, any ideas?

I have dilated cardiomyopathy which started at 25% upon diagnosis and i've improved to 45% currently. I've had lots of pvc's the whole time, and they haven't gotten any better. I monitor my heart over night and this morning i was watching and saw a beat i've never seen before, so i'm not sure if it's a bad thing or not. Moving around can cause weird stuff, however i was laying perfectly still when this happened and was watching the screen, so it startled me. I've put the picture up and here's a link, can anyone tell me what kind of irregular beat this is, and if i should notify my doctor? On the left is a normal pvc obviously, but on the right is ... something weird??? any ideas? thanks.

Hi,

2 strange beats there.

First one is either a PAC with aberrancy or a PVC. A 12 channel EKG is needed to be sure, so not easy to say. If you have mostly PVCs this is likely to be a PVC.

Second one seems like a normal sinus beat with an artifact (some muscular disturbance, stretch in the leads, technical error). You can see the beat is preceded by a P wave (so the beat is atrial) the P wave is upright (likely to origin from the sinus node, but not sure) and it's not especially premature (a bit above 800 msec coupling interval). When my dad did a stress EKG I got to watch the monitor, and I saw a lot of beats like that.

I'm no doctor and I can't say for sure, but I doubt this was anything else than a normal beat (or possibly a PAC but less likely).

(I know I'm not supposed to interpret EKG's but I was asked to do so.. anyway don't see this as a diagnosis)

Take care!

You're welcome. I say once again though: This is not a reliable interpretation, because I'm not a healthcare professional.

I hope you will continue to get better from your DCM.

Take care :)
