Weird premature beats

Weird premature beats

Hi!

I had some strange premature beats today..

First, this has been a really stressful day. Had a nightmare tonight and too little sleep, up in the morning, two hours of stress at work, then going to the hospital to pick up my dad (nothing serious) but of course he was delayed and I sat there waiting for half an hour while an important meeting soon was about to start at work. After driving him home, I rushed to work, ran 7 levels of stairs and finally got 5 minutes to catch my breath before the meeting.

All of this went fine (no palpitations) but after a couple of minutes (and reading an article about PVCs) :p I got a premature beat. Really nasty one like beatbeat..... BAM! Well, I'm really not afraid of those anymore, so I thought "oh well, probably because I've stressed around like a madman today". But 15 seconds later.. another one. 10 seconds later, yet another one.. and not the nice little PACs I'm used to. Those I had today felt violent. I freaked out, thinking w-t-h is this? They just kept getting worse, the next half minute I guess I had at least 6 of them.

So I stood up and started walking around for half a minute, and they stopped. I don't think I had any of them when walking around.

I'm not at all a stranger to premature beats, but those I had today felt really nasty. I had one of them after my stress test too, and it was a PAC. I hope those I had today were PACs too.

Anyone else that get such flare-ups of premature beats after stressing?

Hey is_something_wrong! The exact same thing happens to me. I will go for days with a completely normal heartbeat, and start to believe that I my heart is healthy and I don't have to worry about it anymore, and then I'll have a stressful day and get a horrible stretch of skipped beats, extra beats, abnormally fast beats, you name it. I always get completely freaked out, and for the next few days the only thing I think about is what my heart's doing. However, I find that it's important to remember that while heartbeats happen, they also go away. I have to recall what my cardiologist says: They are not dangerous. You've given me so much wonderful advice and support on this forum, so let me offer some back. You're fine. You just had a rough day. Our hearts are way stronger than we think: they can take a bit of stress. Don't worry. Be happy. Hope your meeting went OK too! :)

Cheers!

Some of us get these flare ups all the time for no reason. At least you only have pacs.
I had a cardiologist tell me once that he gets  pvcs very rarely, only if he is really over tired and he knows he is fine, but they scare him too.

Well that just happened to me last Thursday.  Same as yours, except mine went on for over 2 hours!  I also got those light double beats that I can only believe are pac couplets more often than I cared to feel.
I also had a stressful morning.  Funny thing is, they calmed down around 4pm and that is when our power went out  (I live in California).  I ended up having to drive in traffic with stop lights not working to pick up my husband whos car ran out of gas.  Then stress over my daughter getting home from school because she was also stuck in traffic and our phones weren't working.  During all of this, I didn't feel one skip.  Not one.  I was expecting a bad day on Friday and I did feel them but nothing like Thursday.
I know we are fine.  But when you feel something a little different, it messes with your head for a while.  That is why we are here.  Thank goodness we have each other for those times.
Don't worry over it anymore  (or I will  lol because it is exactly what I was getting for 2 + hours).

I've been having more than normal lately but the last few days they've settled down. I've tried to figure out what I've done different and the only thing I can think of is I've been less active because I've sat in meetings for three days trying to stay awake. I don't know.....maybe it's the full moon that causes them or the way the stars are lined up causing some kind of cosmic disturbance that creates PACs all over the world..lol It's impossible to figure this out completely.

I couldn't have said it better...

at this point I've thrown everything I've learned the past 2 years out the window and been sitting scratching my head wondering WTH is going on.

Wow, thanks for great replies :)
I really appreciate it!

To Gothic and Jodie: Seems you have the same problems as I do and that stress is a major trigger. Like you, I don't get any problems WHEN I'm stressing, but after I relax and try to get my feet back at the ground or something :p

I guess the solution is to not let things like this ruin the day. That's the difficult part, I think.. and as you can see I still haven't learnt how yet..

We all know this by now I am sure.  But stress produces adrenaline and adrenaline affects hearts that are irritable.....also, we've had the Harvest Moon.  It was huge the other night!
