Wenckebach - horrible palpiations and going to have a pacemaker

Hi everyone!

I had two ablations for SVT, now I have a heart block 2nd degree, 2:1, Wenckebach. I feel horrible palpitations when it starts, if its at night, it wakes me up.
When my heart is in its bad days, even sitting down can trigger it, or my jeans if they push my belly too much. If I bent down quickly thats no good for my heart neither. Laying down is hard, and I cant turn on my side (especially the right one), I have to wait like twenty minutes to be able to try changing position.

On the top of it, I get very dizzy, feel like passing out but then it impromes. I also feel my irregular heartbeat, palps....just too much!

My cardiologist proposed me the pacemaker and Im getting it in february. Is there someone who get paced for similar reasons? Does it really help to soothe all this? Im a bit afraid I will get rid of the dizzy spells, but I will continue to feel my bad palpitations :)

Thanks for your answers, greetings from france!

Unfortunately the only cure for heart block is a pacemaker.  It sounds like certain positions create the block situation which are really unavoidable so it makes sense to get a pacemaker.  For a few unfortunate people their svt was located too close to vital areas and blocks can occur.  I am sorry that happened to you.  I would suspect a pacemaker would fix your palpitation issues but if not it is possible that there is still a little svt left.  Considering it's close proximity to vital areas it is possible they were cautious in ablating.  If they are putting in a pacemaker and there is still a little svt then they could possibly just get it totally blocked but again, I have no clue why you have palpitations now.  If it is still related to your svt or if it is because of the block which is possible as well.  Does it feel different then how the svt felt?  I don't personally have one but I know putting in a pacemaker is nothing to be taken lightly but it sounds like your quality of life is affected so I can see it helping.  Best of luck and keep us posted how it went.

Oh Michelle, you are so sweet to answer! My current palpitations are mainly the heart block - I feel the heart being irregular and skipping the beat; afterwards a short SVT arrives - it lasts like three seconds only. So it is mainly the block which causes me troubles now. Thanks for your support, I hope my life with a pacer will be finally "normal".
