What all does an EKG and echocardiogam prove?

What all does an EKG and echocardiogam prove?

Hey guys I am suffering from anxiety and possibly heart issues. I am 19 years old 6 foot 2, 160 lbs. I have really been concerned lately because I use to exercise all the time non stop and had a really healthy lifestyle. Well sort of I took a supplement called N.O. Xplode for 7 months so I was thinking this could cause my anxiety. I have had a EKG and im getting a ultrasound done on my heart on Monday. I was wondering how reassuring these test are. My EKG came out normal. I recently decided screw it Im gonna exercise again. Yesterday my exercise went well only I got extremely light headed about 10 minutes after my hour and a half bike ride. Today I did a core workout and had an irregular heartbeat a couple skips about 10 minutes after my workout.

They prove nothing!  JUST KIDDING!!  I used to suffer from anxiety attacks for decades big time.  Had an EKG and an echocardiogram done while I was having high anxiety.  EKG showed that I had a "previous" heart attack, echo showed that I had "severe" leakage of a heart valve.  NONE OF IT WAS TRUE.  I had to go through all kinds of test done by a Cardiologist and he assured me that I never had a heart attack (all the other EKG's also showed no previous heart attack) and that I had a "small" leakage instead of a "severe" one, of one of the valves, can't remember the name of the valve, and don't care, and the Cardiologist said that lots of people have that (small leakages). He also said I had a healthy heart and needed no follow up.  However, he explained to me that when you're under high anxiety you can screw up all your  tests.  EKG's spit out "false heart attacks", echo cardiograms spit out false stuff.  He said hyperventilating when under anxiety can change the outcome of an echogram and an EKG.  I was glad he educated me about this, I did not know that.

On the other hand though my husband is calm as he can be and his EKG also showed a "previous" heart attack, he too had to go through all kind of tests, and it showed that he never had a heart attack.  The Cardiologist told my husband "I hate these damn computerized EKG's they spit out so many false heart attacks and previous heart attacks I'm getting tired of it".

Just thought I share this with you since you mentioned "anxiety" in your post.  Anxiety can screw up all your tests.  It even can raise your sugar level in some people, and definately can also raise your Blood Pressure while having anxiety.  I know all about that.  But not all people react the same way.

Your EKG came out normal, that is good.  As for your "skipping" of your heart, I'm having that for the last 45 yrs and I am still kicking.  Get checked out, which you did, and if the doctor/cardioligist tells you that your heart skips are nothing to worry about you need to believe him and trust him otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy with worry.  I've been through this exercise, but no more!

You said you took a supplement for 7 months.  "Google" it and see if it can cause for you to have anxiety.  Some supplements can cause anxiety.

Good luck!

Echodiagram is very accurate, more than ECG because it can project a 2D view of ur heart and see how the blood flows around the heart and also how the heart muscle are contracting,if ur still not convinced u can perform a stress test which cant be wrong..cause a damaged heart muscle will certainly produced major electrical changes while under a lot of stress..
