What's the deal?!

What's the deal?!

I have noticed I get lightheaded when I eercise and sometimes for no reason. I also get tired. I have worn two holter monitors to see if anything is wrong. Both holter results show my rate in the 40s and 50s at rest and 130-150s when I exercise. I usually do light/moderate exercise between 3-4 times a week for 20-30 minutes. I am by no means a hardcore athlete but I am at healthy weight. I also stay hydrated and have even started drinking gatorade to see if it helps. I go back to the cardiologist to see what he thinks. I am supposed to feel energized but all I feel is tired and lightheaded. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be going on?!?

Any chance you can be anemic?

I can't say for certain because I am not a doctor but you may be light headed due to your low heart rate.  40-50 seems a bit low though the rate is not unheard of, especially during sleeping hours.  However, if your blood pressure is also low this may be why you get light headed.  Your cardiologist will be able to give you the best advice on how to proceed.  If there is no underlying heart disease then you may need to go on bp medicine to get your heart to a normal rate.  Though I am not sure how often they prescribe that for someone with a low rate.  But seeing how you have symptoms it might be suggested.  If that happens I would weigh your options of dealing with the issue or take pills.  In any event, get back to your cardiologist to see what is up first.  Good luck.

Thanks for your posts! I thought it may be anemia as well and I had labwork done at my PCP's office. My blood pressure has been on the normal/low side. I checked it one morning and it was 79/56 (which to me is pretty low) and then later it was around 120/80. I am not anemic and my thyroid is normal as well. I am a 26 year old healthy female and should not feel lightheaded and dizzy all of the time! I hope I can find answers from the cardiologist!

I know when my bp/hr were low it was attributed to ANS issues (autonomic nervous system) my hr could go from 40-180 on a dime (Variable Heart Rate & BP) and my bp would jump from 90/60 to 150/90 then down to 40/70.  Some where mixed or crossed signals in the ANS/heart/brain connection happened and they had me salt/water load, tried compression hose, tilt training etc but I think mine is due to damage in my spine & CNS.

So many things can cause ANS issues that it may be worth mentioning to your dr.  Here's some info on the ANS/conditions http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Neurological-Disorders/Autonomic-Dysfunction-FAQ/show/181?cid=196

it may be something else entirely but the ANS connection is always worth checking out
