does intermittent atrial fib occurring daily in episodes lasting 1 to 5 minutes require anticoagulation?  does this nonpermanent pattern predispose one to accumulating clots in the atria?  hx includes left atrial enlargement
mod erate aortic  and mitral regurg rbbb mod diastolic dysfunction .  episodes always occur with exertion.

Any time the heart is in atrial fibrillation increases your risk of a clot. Aspirin which is an antiplatelet (makes the platelets less sticky) is ok if you have no other risk factors that would predispose you to suffering a stroke.

To reduce your chances of suffering a stroke, from a clot, coumadin is more successful at preventing this. I think that it would be wise for you to discuss this with your Dr. You seem very concerned with this and have every right to be.
