Try taking your atenolol at night before bed.  When I was taking it, I took it in the morning and it did seem to wear off towards evening and that is when for some reason I have most of my problems.  So I started taking it later in the day until I worked up to taking it about a hour or so before bedtime.  That helps with the fatigued feelings too.

ask your doctor if you can take 1/2 in am and 1/2 in pm.
That works great for me.  I don't get tired.

I take 1/2 of atenolol 25 in the PM. Couldn't take the full one or in the morning...wiped me out. Taking in AM and PM is a good idea if the dr. ok's it. Good luck!

I actually agree with all of the posts above aylish....i too am on the same dosage and it took me about a week to finally not be tired and i am a huge advocate of antenolol now.  One of my nephews is a scientist specializing in pharmaceuticals and told me that most beta blockers take up to 30 days to completely saturate our tissues.....so to me that tells me that we probably don't get the full benefit of reaction until we fully hit that point. I take my antenolol now every morning when i brush my teeth but i definately was taking it before bed when i first began and was getting wiped out.  As far as your son goes.....oh heck yes...anxiety and adrenaline rushes will do that to you....at 17 it would be pretty unusual for him to be having heart issues.....you want to make sure Aylish that you don't project onto him what your fears are...i went thru that w. one of my daughters years ago and she ended up running back and forth to the E.R. because of things i had shared with her that was going on with me...it was almost like a sympathy issue and reaction...i think its normal but our kids are not us...our hearts are our own and not theirs....thru my original fear i handed it off to my daughter...my bad....now i try not to tell my kids a thing unless i end up in the hospital and its verified....give the antenolol a couple of weeks aylish....it really helps to keep things at bay.....good luck to you and your family
