bradycardia and high blood pressure

I am a 28 year old female who just gave birth four days ago. During my pregnancy, my blood pressure was low (106/68) but I had tachycardia. I wore a holter monitor for 24 hrs, and it was determined that I had a normal sinus rhythm. A day after giving birth, my blood pressure went up to 130-150/90-100.  My heart rate is now 45-55. Dr. ran a complete blood screen to rule out toxicity. Is there anything else I should look into? I was also started on anti-anxiety medication, but hasn't helped yet.

Please be aware that, to a certain degree, the blood pressure controls the heart rate. It is likely that you, during pregnancy, had a low blood pressure and that your body was trying to keep it up by increasing the heart rate. As an example, if you are warm and especially after some alcohol, you will get a run of tachycardia when standing up, because your blood vessels are dilated and the body compensates by increasing the heart rate.

Now the blood pressure is high / sufficient, and you don't need a high heart rate.

Anyway, the reason for your high blood pressure should be found. I'm no doctor and I'm not sure what happens in the body during / after pregnancy, but it's pretty clear you're going through some major changes, both physical and mental. All this can affect the blood pressure and heart rate.

You could just wait and see for a couple of days, and call your doctor if you get worse (dizzy, faint, unwell). Please remember if you focus on your blood pressure, it WILL stay high.
