can vessel spasms cause arrhythmia

I recently failed a stress test and echocardiagram, but a subsequent catheritization failed to find any blockage.  I continue to have irregular heart beats and any exercise or stress shoots my blood pressure to numbers like 174/108 or 111.  I am small 5 4  115  so weight is not a factor, nor do I smoke or drink coffee.  A rheumatologist states I have something called Raynauds Disease (not Syndrome) and that it is causing spasms in the vessels providing blood to my heart.  The cardiologist said "ok", and prescribed Verapamil...It has not helped, I still have constant irregular beats and shortness of breath.  Is there another medicine I could possibly take or any type of treatment for this?  My father passed away at age 49 due to a heart attack.

Have you seen a rheumatologist as well? Sometimes Raynauds can be primary (like mine, it's not related to any other problem) or it can be secondary to something else like Lupus, Sjogrens, Scleroderma or RA. I think something like Lupus can trigger heart arrhythmias too.

Just because you have no blockages (a plumbing problem) doesn't mean you don't have any arrhythmias (an electrical problem). Perhaps you can be referred to an EP (electrophysiologist) - a cardiologist that specializes in arrhythmias.

There are other CCB's out there too besides Verapamil. I take Diltiazem for my chest pains and arrhythmias and I notice it helps my Raynauds as well. My feet and hands don't turn as gray as often as before. Just some suggestions.
