car accident and heart rhythm problems

by juice1, Jan 07, 2008 07:10PM
do or can car crashes cause heart rhythm problems?  I had no problem, and several EKG before car accident and nothing abnormal.  After car crash I had an EKG that had heart stopping from 3-4.5 seconds and then restarting over and over.  A cardiac pacemaker was put in but I am still wondering, did the car accident cause this?  I was hit in the rear quarter panel at 30mph.

I cannot find good information on this question?

Well were you actually injured in the crash?  How old are you?  If you weren't hurt at all then there would be no connection.  If you are older, then the need for a pacemaker becomes more common.

Did your dr shed any light on this? Interesting question and I would wonder what he/she said re your question. Will you be on meds for this? Do you know what the arrhythmia is and have you had many 'events' since the accidents, like every day or so??

Stay in touch and hope you are well on the way to a full recovery.
