car accident

car accident

I recently had a car accident. I was broadsided than went into a tree. Amazingly I crawled out a window and got out. I was in shock. The ambulance wanted to take me to the hospital. The bottom number was 130. It came down to 109. and i didn't want to spend 8 hours there. Prior to the accident I had a heart beat that skipped. Now I have an extra beat. Seeing my heart guy tomorrow. Can it be because my internal organs took a jolt? I could not see my doctor for 2 days after the accident and my wife told me my face was red until than.I am extremely stressed out because of personal thing. But I was seeing my doctor on a regular basis, gout, prior to the accident. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.I'm new to this. If you can check my profile you will see my medical problems. Thanks
Bill

Hi Bill i read your post but didn't read your medical hx.  I recently just went thru something similar and was hit from behind by a drunk driver and even w. my seat belt on had issues w. the heart that sound pretty similar to mine.  The doc in the E.R, said that in my case it was the effect of the seat belt suddenly tightening across my chest or my hitting the steering wheel that caused a weird heart beat but it straightened out after a couple of days as well.  I think even when hit broadside the effects are the same w. the belt because it does its job not to mention the adrenaline rush that pulsed thru your body immediately after the crash.  I know it scared the heck out of me for sure.  I think it would be pretty normal for your blood pressure to soar after what you went thru and once the shock passed it would settle down.  I spoke to my heart doc the next day as well after my accident last month and he said that so many things happen when we take an impact of some severity.  The heart pumps via electrical impulses and it would not be surprising to me at all if those impulses were interupted by the accident for a period of time.  The best way to deal w. this is to see your doc as soon as possible and let them take the torch from here.....incidents like these can literally rock your world but only your doc and time will tell for sure....i feel you Bill for sure...i have never been in a car accident before and was shocked that a couple of days later i felt like a Mack truck had hit me......see the doc...
