chest/heart pain

chest/heart pain

I have had this issue for awhile now. Anywhere from once a week to 3 times a day (and the pain is coming more often) it feels as though someone is squeezing my heart and chest. The pain is extremley intense it has stopped me in my tracks and brought me to tears. With each episode it becomes harder to breathe so I have to pant as if I'm in labor. It has woke me from a deep sleep or comes on sudden. The pain lasts from 1-5 minutes and afterwards my heart skips beats. I have had the EEG, EKG, CTscans and such and the doctors have no answers. Can soneone help me or give me an idea of what is happening please? Thank you in advance.

I've had the same thing happen. I went to the emergency room once with it because I thought I was having a heart attack. The ER doctor was really quite rude and told me I probably had pleurisy and to go home and take some ibuprofen for the pain which I did and it helped although I don't think it was pleurisy. It happens every now and then especially when I'm under stress, dehydrated, or fatigued. My cardiologist didn't have an explanation for it either after running all the tests but he did say to drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest. That really makes a difference. I've also learned from others in this forum that magnesium helps to relax the heart muscle. I've tried that also and it seems to help.

I have heart arrythmia problems and some how I think it is linked to those. Do your have any irregularties in the way your heart beats?

There is NO WAY i would play around with this one twinof2...those symptoms are throwing red flags all over the place and the only accurate way to catch this would be to talk to your heart doc and ask them to put you on a holter monitor for at least 72 hours and up to a week or so.  It could be absolutely anything from very very serious to something simple but why take the chance with this?  You are having trouble breathing, crushing chest pain with rhythm issues afterwards....oh heck no...the next time it happens i would no doubt head to an emergency room to be seen and if you get lightheaded don't even hesitate call 911 so that someone can help you before they can't do anything for you.  Geez it could be anything from a hiatal hernia, to a heart attack, and the list goes on and on and on...the only way to monitor it while you are at home is the holter or a small credit card type of monitor where you send in the episodes immediately after they occur...i would jump on this and not try to explain it away it could mean the diff between life and death.  I personally don't like the way this sounds.......................
