clonazapam question

clonazapam question

Hi,
I was put on clonazapam for anxiety for my PVC's, which I am having a hard time dealing with. Imagine that after only 30 years of them! It seems to work pretty well for the anxiety, but seems to cause my heart to pound and slow down for about 3-10 beats, and then back to normal. Is the pounding secondary to the anxiety, or is it due to the drug? It seemed to work well for about a week, and then I started noticing them. Am I overreacting or what? I'm taking .5mg per day. Thanks, Mark

You didn't say how long you have been on the anxiety medication, but your post suggests it was started recently.  That being the case, I think you should discuss with your doctor.  That is the only way your doctor can evaluate the benefit/risk of the prescription.

You mention slow down, so there is no metric on how slow.   I'd say if slow down is something over 50 at rest, I'd not be too concerned about the slow down.  The pounding could be a greater concern...do you have any other symptoms?  Think it over before contacting you doctor, "stuff" like what time of day, relationship to eating, exercising or not.... when the onset of pounding takes place.  The preceding is just a brief "running list", make note of anything you can that may relate to the undesired symptoms. This will help your doctor, it is always a team effort to get the best medical diagnosis.
