concerned about sotalol

been on inderal changed to antenolol around 10 years ago for frequent irregular heart rate and tacycardia, symptoms have gotten worse over the last 8 months, had all the tests ECG, holter monitor 24hrs, echo, was told i had very frequent irregular heart beats but was nothing to worry about. medication was changed to sotalol but since reading the side effects have decided not to take them, the antenolol sem to no longer control the arrythmias so what do you suggest.

Sotalol is one of the Stronger medications and may be just what you need.  My cardiologist would require such a drug be introduced during a hospital stay where the reactions could be monitored carefully.  The same is true here for Flecainide and others in that group of drugs.

The practices in the UK may be different on the introduction, if that is the case I share your concern.  If you do decide to start taking the drug without medical supervision I'd think it wise to be prepared to go, or be taken, to emergency service at the hospital if you develop an serious side effects.
