do i have a serious heart problem

i am a 25 yr old female who recently saw a cardio dr for palpatations, flutering and dizzines. i had an echo and it was normal and wore a 48 holter moniter and after reciving the results was refferd to a EP doc, my holter results were an average resting heart rate of 92. 22 atrial premature beats pr hr. 2 runs of supraventicular tachycardia of a rate of 160 bpm. and a run of wide complex irregular tachycardia that occured while sleeping. my cholesterol and thyroid are normal. ive had a few panick atacks in my life but not for many yrs and during my delivery of my 2nd child my heart raced to the point they gave me an injection of something to slow it down, this was 4 yrs ago. i am currently 6 mo pregnant and was just givin a 30 moniter to wear because they cant do the ep test they want to do until i deliver. they have started me on 25 mg daiy of toprol that ive been taking for 2 wks and havnt really noticed a change other then now my hands shake. should i be concerned with all of this or is this a normal thing to have happen at my age. any insight to this would help me greatly. thanks

i took antianxieties 4 1/2 yrs ago with my 2nd pregnancy for panick attacks and havnt had another one since then. took the meds for about 3 mo. yes my heart raced right after delivery im not sure how fast it was goin i just no they seemed worried enough to give my a shot for it but my daughter wasnt breathing so that could have had something to do with it, but she ended up being just fine. when im not pregnant i dont seem to notice it much unless im up walking around or doing something active and the results of my holter moniter are while i was doing nuthing at all because im on bed rest. but even while hooked up to the holter i didnt write down anything in the diary because most of the stuff happened while i was sleeping

Just a question. Were you on, or comming of of any medications during these period where you had palpatations in your life ie SSRI's or antianxieties? Another question was your heart racing after the pregnancy? If so did it worsen? Try your best to think back

Sounds like you have some great docs working w. you.  They are doing everything that i would want done for myself or family if this occured.  The toporol is a pretty good beta blocker just make sure that when they tell you that you no longer need to take it that you wean yourself off of it but i am sure they'll let  you know.  This is one of those heart meds that we shouldn't suddenly stop taking.  If your tach rate was 160 yep that;s high but alot of people like myself have reached up the  uppper 200's ( had to be fixed tho).  Just really pay attention to your body during this pregnancy.....alot of funny things happen to us when we're pregnant not all of it good....mostly the strain the baby puts on us and our hearts.  I'm sure that when you spoke to your OB/GYN they reassured you tho and usually they just want to keep a close eye on our blood pressure.  As far your hands go.....w. toporol thats normal .  I would relax and know that it sounds like you are getting great care right now and cross the other bridges when you come to them after the delivery.  Bask in the glow of being pregnant and concentrate on the new life  your about to bring into this world......like i said it sounds to me like the docs got this one covered......

It sounds like runs of SVT to me. I am sure it is also aggravated by your pregnancy, as is common. The SVT usually is more annoying than dangerous. The danger could potentially come if your heart goes too fast that you do not perfuse well and pass out, hurting yourself in the process. You could do an ablation following your pregnancy if your symptoms are bothersome enough. Make sure your OBGYN is aware of you taking a beta blocker. They may want you to stop a couple of weeks prior to delivery to ensure the safety of your baby. Talk it over with your docs. Hope this helped. Good luck!
