ecg - echo and 24 hour holter monitor?

I'm a 17 year old girl (as stated in the question :P) and back in December my gp noticed that I had a raised pulse, so he referred me to the cardiology department at our hospital where I was to have an echo, ecg and 24 hour tape monitor - the appointment only recently came through - so I had all these tests done last week - as it's really busy at the hospital at the moment, my appointment to get the results of these tests is in May -

I was just wondering what the tests could show? and also if something worrying was found in them.. would they have called me back in by now?
I feel fine in myself - no chest pains, etc.. any ideas of what I can expect when I get the results?

we have a blood pressure/pulse machine at home, so are able to check it at home and it would still sometimes spike to 120bpm.. however when I was having the tests done at the hospital (for which I had to come off my beta blockers) during the ecg my pulse was in the 90s.. so I'm leaning towards my period of high pulse rate being due to stress or something?
- and no i haven't had any blood tests yet for this.
- and yes! i do suffer really quite badly with anxiety when going to the doctors/hospital... i get extremely nervous so i feel like my pulse is sky high when i have to go! :')

120-125 is considered tachycardia but it isn't too high.  Do you know if you were stressing a bit being at the doctor.  I can do that and it can cause an elevated heart rate in the 120s for me.  I would say try to check yours when you are calm and at home and it will likely be much slower but I do think it prudent to at least have your thyroid checked.  I would assume the doctor drew some blood to test?  More than likely if you have an issue it may be due to something outside the heart like a thyroid issue, too much caffeine, an unconditioned heart, or even low blood pressure from being a small person.  I would suspect unless it got much higher than that the cardiologist won't fret over your results.  Though I would say follow up with your GP to find out if she tested your thyroid levels.  If all that comes back fine then I'd say getting some cardio in may help lower your heart rate a bit if it bothers you. As well make sure you are drinking enough water.  Well keep us posted on the results.

Thank you very much - this answer was detailed and very calming! :) oh and my pulse - before I went on the beta blockers my gp prescribed - would average at around 120-125bpm..

Yes, most definitely if there was anything alarming you would have been contacted right away.  Do you know how fast your heart rate is?  Did your GP do blood tests to rule out thyroid issues?  I would say if you feel fine and aren't having any symptoms with this raised pulse I wouldn't worry too much at this point.  Young women tend to have faster heart rates especially small women.  But if you have a severe tachycardia issue you more than likely would be feeling symptoms so I think your doctor may be being cautious is all so try not to fret until you see the doctor.  I suspect you will be given a clean bill of health as far as your heart is concerned.  Take care and keep us posted on the results.
