expectations post SVT ablation

I am a 30-year old female, active, in very good health, and I have SVT. I have episodes on average of once every two weeks, my HR gets up to 180bpm, and will last anywhere from 15 minutes to 8 hours. I know this sounds vain, but what are the chances I will gain weight after my ablation, assuming it is successful? If I maintain my activity level will I gain weight? Thanks~!

Perhaps you're thinking that having hours of tachycardia count as a cardio workout? Hate to disappoint you but they don't. I wish they did; it would make my life easier. LOL

You'll only gain weight if you take in more calories than you need each day. This isn't like hitting menopause and going through a hormone shift and metabolic change. It's just fixing an electric glitch in your  heart so it beats regularly. No problem.

Why would you gain weight?

Sure, during the period when you're recovering and limited in your activities, you might not burn many calories, but if you get back to it when you're able, I don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to stay in the same shape you're in now.
