I just had a echo done, as I have a heart murma (Sp) waiting for the result. I have vo insurance so Its hard to get too many test or see the dr. that often. thanks for your help
I also have this problem . I can be sitting and when I stand my heart rate shoots up to 140 or more. I told the dr and he is trying to help out with it. Have you seen a dr for your problem and gotten some help?
I agree with the information Jerzeegal gave to you. Your symptoms are frequently discussed on the National Dysautonomia Foundation discussion board. People they suspect of having POTS are often given a tilt table test. I have another form of dysautonomia, inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST), which causes your pulse to race but isn't related to the feeling you describe with standing. It does feel like the 2nd symptom you mentioned; that you've just done a little physical activity and you feel like you've ran a marathon. You might want to check for information on Medline Plus also. - Kay
What other tests have you had done besides the one to check for blockage? The symptoms you have given sound similar to a condition called POTS which stands for Posturaly orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. In this condition when a person stands up after being at rest or lying down the heart rate shoots up and the blood pressure drops which can cause the dizziness.
There are tests that can be done to see if this is what is going on or if it is in some way related to your diabetes. Have you had a hemoglobin A1c done recently and is your diabetes under control?
