fast heartbeat

I am already on blood pressure medication which keeps my bp fairly good. My doctor has just added Cardizem CD for my fast heart beat.  Will all these pills bring my bp down too low?

Cardiazem should help rein in your tachycardia.  It is a first line agent as are the beta blockers.  The body has an amazing capacity to adjust.  Some people take cardiazem for HTN, and have their rate drop a bit as a side effect.  It works both ways and if things go the way they actually usually do, if it drops your pressure much, you will recover it to within normal limits by your own body compensating.  If it is too far, they may switch dosages or drugs.  You can go into it with some confidence that it often works well for many people.  Good luck and God bless, banglamom
