I assume you have talked with your doctor.  My experience with angiograms was I had not groin problem - I was almost normal and surely had no pain or trouble walking the next day.  Not bragging, just give an existence proof that it can be easy and even if not as easy as I experienced, then surely it shouldn't be worse than a week or two.  I was just examined including a study of valve operation, no stints were applied, there was no blockage in my case.

I just had an angio 11 days ago after my first MI which turned out okay.  I have coronary artery vasospasm instead.  I have a lot of groin pain and difficulty walking/standing; needing a cane.  Blood leaked into the surrounding area.  My groin area and the entire area of my upper inner thigh ( 6 x 8 ") looks heavily bruised.  My doc told me that with gravity, the blood will continue to leak all the way down my leg to the ankles.
  She's right.

I had a plug inserted too.

I "feel" your pain!

One of my friends, a physician's assistant with coronary artery problems which have required several catheterizations in the past, just told me about his last angiogram in which they ran the catheter through the WRIST, via the radial artery.  He said it was a piece of cake compared to his previous experiences.  Here is more info about this procedure:

I had a cardiac cath done wayyy back in 1971, and entry was gained through my right arm from where they normally draw blood.  The advantage (if it is at all today) was the catheter entered the right atrium instead of coming up from the ventricle.
