First, your fluttering sensation is not necessarily cardiac related. I remember some times when falling asleep and waking up seconds later, I got a fluttering sensation best explained as a perceived heart rate of 300-400. It wasn't, my heart rate was 80.

Fluttering sensations can be caused by muscular contractions in your chest, esophagus spasms, shivers from anxiety, and of course, fast heart rate (tachycardia).

Try to check your pulse the next time, to see if there is correlation between flutterings and heart rate. If there is, and this starts and ends instantly, there is a chance you have a benign arrhythmia named SVT (supraventricular tachycardia).

If you otherwise don't feel dizzy/fainting, short of breath or unwell, this is probably nothing to worry about. It's possbly a good idea to ask your doctor to do a 24-hour ECG monitoring,
just to relax. Anyway, the first thing to find out is if this is cardiac related or not.

so what you mean is to check if my pulse goes fast when the fluttering happens?

Yes, to determine if this is actually your pulse (heart beats) or something else.

Good luck!

Yes - good!

Then your flutters are not cardiac related (would probably be benign even if they were).

They can be almost anything. Probably muscle spasms from tense muscles or some adrenaline rush from anxiety. Happens all the time! :)
