i also have had really high blood pressure every time the docs taken it, and i have been thinking and its occurred to me its only been high since i was diagnosed with the heart murmur. i used to always have fairly low bld p (110/68), now it tends to be about (145/105) when she does it. is it normal to have high bld pressure with murmurs? surely thats putting extra strain on your heart? its just there have been heart problems in my family, although when they have been about 40 yrs of age, not my age.
What I many not have said clearly is that I believe you should not worry about a heart murmur, is seems your doctor(s) are not. That's a good indication.
hi thanks. um yea she diagnosed it by listening. two docs have heard it, i thought it was just a temporary mumur which anyone can get normally, but the first doc heard it about a year ago so i guess its permanent then? she said the ecg could well not show it up so i guess ur right about that. she didnt say anything, neither of them did, they just said 'you've got a heart mumur there'. i didnt ask because i didnt want to sound stupid. i guess it doesnt mean anything but who knows. i read its normally the diastolic murmurs which are the problem.
What did your doctor tell you? I would be very unhappy if my doctor told me something like I "have a systolic heart murmur" and didn't go on to say what should be done, or not.
I'm not sure what an ECG will add, a murmur is more physical than electrical, I believe...but maybe the ECG can "see" a murmur. The doctor can likely hear it, how was it diagnosed?
If there's any real concern, and I understand most murmurs are benign and mostly unnoticed, then I would think an echocardiogram would be in order to get precise measurements on heart physical condition and functions.
