heart problems after gallbladder surgery?

heart problems after gallbladder surgery?

I recently (2 weeks ago) had surgery to remove my gallbladder. I didn't have traditional pains when my gallbladder was acting up. Upper abdomen/lower chest pressure that radiated to my back and nausea/vomiting after eating but when the dr ordered an ultrasound they found gallstones. During surgery my BP rose (187/108) and remained high for hours after the surgery was finished. I was finally released when my bp reached 136/94. I have noticed, at times, my blood pressure is higher than normal because I can feel it. I also have palpitations when lying down at night. It scares me a lot because I witnessed someone having a heart attack last year. I can be laying in bed and feel my heart beat in my neck (without my fingers on my neck) and my can see my upper abdomen/lower chest area moving in sync with my heart beat.

I had a check-up on week after my surgery and my bp was still high (146/101). The dr showed no signs of worry but I feel like something is wrong. I get sharp pains (at least once a day) under my breasts, sometimes on the left, other times on the right. I have noticed since my check-up that I will have a pain in my right arm. The pains under my breasts and the pain in my right arm come and go. Most of the day I feel fine but I have spouts of pain, more so at night. I am only 25 years old, I don’t smoke (but my parents have smoked my whole life), I am obese, I am not diabetic (I check my sugar regularly bc my dad is diabetic), and I am still having that pressure feeling in my upper abdomen/lower chest. The dr wants me to come back in June 2nd and if my bp is still high she wants me to visit the family doctor to be evaluated. I don’t have insurance so that’s the only reason I haven’t gone back to the family doctor. I am already in major debt from the surgery.  Any advice would greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I had emergancy removal of my gall bladder in December, I collapsed on holiday in South Africa and was found to have a septic gall bladder with stones.  I also only got classic symotoms after eating and then they'd go away.  My SVT which I have suffered from for four years was worse than its ever been, my heart was very irritated and the chest pains had me thinking I was going to have a heart attack every few hours, I had a pounding feeling in my neck and chest.  I am told that this is because of the vasovagal nerve that relates to both the digestive system and heart is over stimulated especially if yours was a traumatic removal like mine.  I was so ill afterwards I had to stay in hospital for nine days as Dr's could not control the vomiting.  It has also been confirmed that I have chronic internal adhesions already due to the emergancy nature of my gall bladder removal which causes allot of pain like you are describing, it radiates up and down my right shoulder, left and right of my upper abdoman and down my right arm .  Apparently it takes months for the bruising and scaring to settle and pain is usual.  I still have pain.  My BP has settled as it too went very high after my surgery.  It can be due to the anaesthetic and or meds which again take months to work out your system.  You are early days still post op and you need to rest allot and give your body time to heal.  When you feel that pounding in yr neck and chest lie down with your feet elevated for at least twenty minutes and do deep breathing (I find breathing in and out a paper bag helps as it returns your oxygen levels back to normal and it stops the panic attack I tend to get when I feel so awful)  I really sympathise over the medical costs as I'm in the same boat as you.  I pray and trust you will find a way to get the follow up visits you need.  I hope some of this assures you.
