heart racing at night waking me up

I have had the folowing test xray ,ekg, blood work, stress test all normal . I am still having sudden racing heart and waking at night with racing heart beat . This just started about a month ago . There is no heart problems in my family I have never had a problem with my heart this is the first. The first time it happen I had a sharp pain in my chest it woke me up in bed . I went to doctor I had shoveled snow that day my doc thought perhaps a pulled muscle
caused it . The pain has ended but the fast heart rate is still happening. That is why I have had the other test .
I have just started new medication also about a two months ago. I am thinking could this be the medication causing
this ? Or should I try a heart monitor ? I don't drink caffine at night or alcohol at all. The medication is Seroquel XR , and Lamictal. This is the place I ment to post I wanted the expert forums didn't mean to double post sorry.

I have another patients with elevated heart rates on lamictal.  The only way to know is to stop the medications and see if it gets better.  Talk to your doctor about it.  If they are concerned or sense that you are concerned, they will likely order a Holter monitor.  This will keep track of your heart rate for 24 hours and record any heart rhythm issue during that time.  You will need to document the times that you are having symptoms so they can look at what your heart rhythm was at that time.

I hope this helps.

If it is happening consistently then I would think they would send you home with a monitor. Unless your racing heart corresponds to starting the meds. I know I was once on wellbutrin and that caused my heart to race, your doc should know if your meds cause this. Perhaps they can switch your meds?? I remember my husband was prescribed seroquel and never took it because it listed so many side affects. I'm no doc though, I'm sure they will respond here too!
