heart rate to low after ablation

heart rate to low after ablation

im 31 currently had an ablation done..was burned 45 times and surgery was 9hrs 15 min..i ended up with lots of issues after surgery which landed me back in the hospital for a bit..now im having other issues going on..im noticing my hr going from 70 80 bpm to 40 when its at 40 or even 45 during my normal activity im feeling very fatigued and almost on the verge of blacking out disoriented the whole thing...concerned i told my ep he thinks they may of burned me to much even though they needed to my hr was 180 he got me dwn to 130 but now this..so the hearts natural pace maker may have been damaged..although athleates have hr of 40 to 50,im not an athlete nor do i exercise so this is very hard for me..grocery shopping becomes a challenge when it gets so low..im on another holitor monitor for 30 days he wants to also see whats going on in my sleep..my hr on monitor has been going from 40 bpm to 56 which i can tollerate the 56 but its still hard..naturally when your used to your heart being at 180 for 2 yrs plus...he saw bit of the recordings and has lowered my toperal i was on 300mg now im down to 150 but still no change..doc is thinking pace maker.. wont know till this is all over..he stressed that im so young for that but the choice might not be there for either of us..is there anyother way or meds to stop the bradycardia..im very uncomfortable and did not choose this for myself but am so willing to do what ever i have to do to get my life back..i will be up playing corn hole with family and feel so faint i have to sit down and hr will be at 40 and it stays there for hours ..i dislike that its interfearing with my life like this ..i was supposed to be fixed or to at least after the ablation too tolerate things a little better....

Sorry to read of you ongoing difficulty... recovery?  How long ago did you have the ablation?  It can take several months for the healing to be complete, especially for what I understand you  went through.

As you are working with your doctor/ep I'm sure you understand what the healing time expectation is, but I ask just in case it is needed information for your consideration looking forward.

Given the tachycardia you had, it seems that ablation was called for, hope the healing will reduce your current difficulty.

i had the alation march 16 of this year..yes im fully aware of the healing process but it has taken since march for me to get these symptoms..it started at the begining of june i felt as if my heart was speeding up and going really slow if not stopping at times even during sleep..alarmed i called my ep and said hey im lucky if when my hr gets so low to be able to function..ill be in my car and get so dizzy and disoriented i have to pull over..had they told me i would be going through this i may of opted out to not have the ablation..but as is ..it was necessary..i feel to an extent it was a sucess..but now im not so sure my search and question is is there other treatments out there for bradycardia..hr now is stuck between 40 and 56 bpm..its just to low for me to function..hes leaning towards pace maker and im just hoping the is some sort of miricale pill out there to fix this..my lil sister is 28 and on the heart transplant list at uh hospitals..she has an icd and i just see what she goes through and dnt want that for myself...is the something else they can do besides pace maker to fix this bradycardia......

Having low heart rates after suffering from high heart rates can be discouraging.  I had a pacer implanted after my first ablation for AFib.  About six months after my ablation, my HR dropped to 28 bpm, something that was difficult to live with.  So a pacer was implanted because my atrial rate was so high without meds and I needed the meds.  I just had my first changeout.  Living with a pacer has been great for me.  I am able to do just about anything except weld and work a jackhammer (and I never did that before I had the pacer - -HAHA)  I go to the gym, sail on the San Francisco Bay, and travel extensively overseas... all with a pacer.

ICDs and pacers are not the same thing.  Pacers do not shock you. When your heart slows, it revs it up with a bit of a charge, one that you CAN NOT FEEL.

Living with low heart rates can be dangerous.  So if your doctor recommends a pacer, please know that a great life can be lived on one.  I am a perfect example.

wow 28 bpm..its funny cause as i sit and b--ch there is always someone out there who has it a lil worse off than you..im sorry to hear that for one mine only gets as low as 40 to 41 and i can barely even function..literally..i become disoriented and really fatigued weak and feel like im going to pass out..i could not even imagine it going to 28..if a pace maker is his choice then im glad to hear that life resumes as normal..my baby sister has one and she does everything ...some times my hr will get up there in the 70 but its really rare and i seem to be stuck in the 40s since the ablation and it lasts for hours..thats doing daily activities also..boy when i finally get a chance w 3 kids to sit down it goes even lower and im lucky to be able to move..thank you for your words im glad to hear..doc is really leaning towards the pacer but wnt actually find out till i get this contraption of a heart monitor off...we will c thank you...
