Out of curiosity, where did the "postural orthostatic hypotension" come from? 78kell didn't sound like they were talking about anythng like that....????
Hi - I don't know if I've got POTS but I do have episodes of SVT, and two weeks ago a 12 hour AF which woke me up. Never had it before.
I get woken often with the same symptoms you described....if you ever find out why please let me know. In the meantime, keep the Valium handy.
cheers
If you wake out of sleep at night, 'adrenal surges'--even though the adrenals are the fashionable gland of the hour and you can read about them in supermarket checkout lines everywhere--are the least likely cause.
The most likely causes are sleep phase disruption due to depression or anxiety (extremely common), or nocturnal panic attacks. You can google these terms.
If you really want to get a little idea of how the adrenals really work, you'll have to take college level courses, one each of human anatomy and human physiology. It's hard, but people can and do succeed in such classes.
